ALBASTI (Imge Özbilge & Sine Özbilge [co-director], 6′)
‘Albasti’ tells the story of a controversial female demon who hides in caves in the forests of Turkey. This mythical creature is regarded, on the one hand, as a benevolent spirit who helps pregnant women during childbirth, but, on the other hand, as a malevolent force that causes miscarriages. According to legend, Albasti was a marginalized midwife who was able to terminate unwanted pregnancies.
STILL LIFE (Natasja Briers, 23′)
In an authoritarian dystopia where silence is the imposed norm, Eris discovers a secret resistance trying to keep expression and art alive. Her brother Silas, an enforcer of the regime, is determined to silence them. A dark fairy tale about the importance of freedom of expression.
