HIGHLIGHTS
Masayuki Suô’s SHALL WE DANCE? is a charming and deeply human exploration of loneliness, self-discovery, and the quiet pursuit of happiness. The film follows Shohei Sugiyama, a successful but emotionally unfulfilled salaryman who becomes drawn to a dance studio and its enigmatic instructor Mai. What begins as a secret attempt to escape the routines of everyday life gradually becomes a journey toward confidence, connection, and personal transformation.
Western director Anthony Mann cast Walter Huston – father of the Huston dynasty with John and Angelica being the most famous offspring – in his final role as the money-grabbing patriarch T.C. Jeffords. Huston died before the film was released. THE FURIES is an eccentric hybrid western in Mann’s oeuvre. Part western, part melodrama, part Freudian analysis of the complex father-daughter bond.
Silent cinema is often mentioned in the same breath with the celebrities of that era, like Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks. In TRUE HEART SUSIE, two silent cinema stars come together: director and father of narrative cinema D.W. Griffith and his muse, actress Lillian Gish. The film will be accompanied by pianist Hilde Nash, who will improvise a live soundtrack.
