From underground and camp to B-movies and “so bad they’re actually good” films. In our CULT series, controversy is not avoided, censorship is playfully challenged, guilty pleasures are given a place, and nostalgia goes hand in hand with exploitation. Taboo-breaking for some and excessive for others, but one thing is certain: CULT leaves no one unmoved.

HIGHLIGHTS

When you think of classic horror, you think of Bela Lugosi—the man forever synonymous with his horror alter egos: Count Dracula in DRACULA and lab assistant Ygor in SON OF FRANKENSTEIN and GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN. But horror icon Lugosi has another feat to his name: he starred in the first-ever feature-length zombie film, WHITE ZOMBIE.

Artist, beatnik, rebel, hippie, world traveller, tattoo pioneer, and devoted family man. FELIX, DARE TO DREAM is much more than a film about tattooing. It is the remarkable story of Felix Leu, a free spirit who dedicated his life to art, adventure, and independence.

On Halloween, we’re renaming Freaky Friday to Freaky Saturday for a one-off screening of two zombie films: George A. Romero’s horror classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and the surrealist cult favorite MESSIAH OF EVIL.
