Director Emmett Malloy brings this past to life by weaving rare archival footage with personal family videos and candid modern-day reflections. Alongside Johnson himself, friends and icons like Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Ben Harper, and G. Love share their stories. The community’s laid-back vibe is brought to life by the soundtrack, recorded specifically for the film by Jack Johnson and guitar duo Hermanos Gutiérrez.
