Real Faces
Belgian filmmaker Leni Huyghe’s feature film debut is a beautifully minimalist, richly detailed work about human connection and the sense of belonging. The cinematography is by Grimm Vandekerckhove, whom you may know from his collaborations with Bas Devos (HERE).
Leonie Buysse plays a casting agent who moves from Paris to Brussels after a breakup. There, she meets Eliott, a microbiologist who is about to move from Brussels to Greenland. After a chance encounter, a special friendship develops, but then they have to say goodbye again.
Huyghe, a Belgian filmmaker, has previously directed short films that have won various awards and been screened at international film festivals, including Cinéfondation at Cannes, Visions du Réel, and Palm Springs. REAL FACES emphasises her talent: “A beautifully filmed love letter to Brussels, friendship, and lichens,” wrote De Standaard.
