In his puppet film, Charlie Kaufman (ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, BEING JOHN MALKOVICH) once again tackles major themes such as love, identity, and depression in his own unique way. David Thewlis voices Michael Stone, a guru of the help desk industry who believes that all people on earth look and sound exactly the same. Until, during a business trip, he meets a young woman (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who is completely herself…

After the premiere, the tender and intimate sex scene from the film proved particularly intriguing: the fact that it involves animated dolls making love only makes the emotional crux of the film more poignant.

ANOMALISA was the first animated film ever (!) to win the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. The film was also nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice Award.
