Isle of Dogs
Eight years after his Roald Dahl adaptation FANTASTIC MR. FOX, director Wes Anderson ventures into stop-motion territory again. His ISLE OF DOGS is set on a remote Japanese island where dogs are placed into quarantine after an outbreak of the dog flu. At the same moment, a little boy starts his search for his missing dog. He travels to the island looking for his pet, and comes into contact with a dog posse led by Rex.
Journalist Erik Stockman describes like this: “Whoever loves to be submerged in the eccentric imagination of this unique director will be met with a wonderful viewing experience. Afterwards, our eyes were a little red as well, and this because of the sneaking effect of the sad melancholy Anderson always adds to his stories. Remarkable really: even when he creates a hilarious stop motion animation about a couple of dogs who are talking about their favourite food on a Japanese island, there still is a beautiful layer of wistfulness in Anderson’s work.”
