For the third consecutive year, we are partnering with KINOLATINO, the Latin American Film Festival taking place from 20 to 28 March 2026 in Brussels, Liège, Antwerp, Namur, Nivelles, and Louvain-la-Neuve.

Por tercer año consecutivo, colaboramos con KINOLATINO, el Festival de Cine Latinoamericano que se celebra del 20 al 28 de marzo de 2026 en Bruselas, Lieja, Amberes, Namur, Nivelles y Louvain-la-Neuve.

Within this collaboration, we present three outstanding films by women filmmakers. We screen the restored Spanish-language masterpiece ARAYA by Margot Benacerraf. This 1959 film is a landmark of poetic cinema and is widely regarded as an early precursor of feminist Latin American film. In what would have been Benacerraf’s 100th year, we also present her short documentary REVERÓN (1952), in which she visits artist Armando Reverón at home and closely documents his daily life and creative process.

In addition, we showcase two powerful contemporary debuts. VAINILLA by Mayra Hermosillo is a Mexican coming-of-age film that offers an intimate and sharp female perspective—tender and vibrant, and an ode to womanhood in all its forms. In MAMA, Ecuadorian filmmaker Ana Cristina Benítez films herself after being diagnosed with advanced breast cancer at the age of 36. She records chemotherapy, surgeries, and recovery without evasion—an intense journey that exposes not only the body, but also a wounded soul.

En el marco de esta colaboración presentamos tres películas excepcionales dirigidas por mujeres. Proyectamos la obra maestra restaurada en lengua española ARAYA de Margot Benacerraf. Esta película de 1959 es un hito del cine poético y se considera una precursora temprana del cine feminista latinoamericano. Con motivo de lo que habría sido el centenario de Benacerraf, también presentamos su cortometraje documental REVERÓN (1952), en el que visita al artista Armando Reverón en su casa y documenta de cerca su vida cotidiana y su proceso creativo.

Además, mostramos dos potentes óperas primas contemporáneas. VAINILLA de Mayra Hermosillo es una película mexicana de iniciación que ofrece una mirada femenina íntima y aguda: tierna y vibrante, y a la vez un homenaje a la feminidad en todas sus formas. En MAMA, la cineasta ecuatoriana Ana Cristina Benítez se filma a sí misma tras recibir, a los 36 años, el diagnóstico de cáncer de mama avanzado. Registra sin rodeos la quimioterapia, las operaciones y la recuperación—un proceso intenso que deja al descubierto no solo el cuerpo, sino también un alma herida.
