Freaky Friday dives into the doll theme in April, but in an over-the-top and completely unhinged way. No innocent toys, but possessed dolls, plastic nightmares, and shameless eighties excesses. This crazy dolls cult evening serves up a double bill of CHILD’S PLAY (1988) – etched in the collective memory as the foul-mouthed CHUCKY – and PUPPET MASTER (1989): two cult classics full of gore, revenge plots, and miniature killers with attitude. Pure trashy horror fun!

In CHILD’S PLAY, a notorious serial killer narrowly escapes death through a voodoo ritual. With his last ounce of strength, he transfers his consciousness into a “Good Guy” children’s doll. Shortly thereafter, the doll ends up in the hands of single mother Karen Barclay, who gives it as a gift to her six-year-old son Andy. Little Andy soon discovers that there is more behind Chucky’s innocent façade. “You stupid bitch, you filthy slut! I’ll teach you to fuck with me!” is just a sample of the rich vocabulary you can expect during the film. When several murders are committed and the adults finally believe Andy’s story, it is already too late…
