Punk the Capital: Building a Sound Movement
When punk rock became popular at the end of the 1970s in Washington D.C., an explosive mix of uncompromising music, close friendships and radical ideas are created. PUNK THE CAPITAL is the first to show the major challenges and creative power of this scene in the heart of American politics.
The film places the D.C. punk movement in the broader history of rock ‘n’ roll, and develops a layered, surprisingly accessible story — for die hard fans, as well as newcomers. With icons as Bad Brains, Henry Rollins and Ian MacKaye, the documentary dives deep in the raw energy, ideas and sound of a movement that still globally resonates on a cultural and political level.
This film screening is part of the brand new PULSE MUSIC FILM FESTIVAL (22-25 January).
