Goddess of Pop with her recognizable androgynous voice, better half of the duo Sonny & Cher, emblem of the counter culture and progressive oracle of unsalted opinions and fearless fashion choices: that is Cher in a nutshell. But Cher has done more than popularizing Auto-Tune.

Something the icon for is less recognized for than she deserves is her acting career. Nevertheless, Cher was nominated for two Academy Awarrds (for MOONSTRUCK – which she also redeemed – and SILKWOOD), praised by critics all around for her performance in Robert Altman’s COME BACK TO THE 5 & DIME, JIMMY DEAN, JIMMY DEAN, and mannned up against Hollywood darlings Jack Nicholson, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer in THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK. Not even mentioning her convincing performance as free-spirited mother in MERMAIDS.
