Restored
At De Cinema, we love screening newly restored versions of beloved classics or recently discovered gems. Film restoration is the art of rescuing decaying celluloid film and repairing physical (or digital) damage. This meticulous process of scanning original film elements (usually 35mm negatives) at a high pixel resolution creates a new (2K or) 4K digital master. It involves removing “errors” like dirt and scratches frame by frame, correcting colours, and enhancing sound, aiming to make the film look and sound better than it ever has while preserving its original intentions.
