Taste of Cherry
A man drives through the hills of Teheran in search for someone wanting to execute a very personal assignment after his death. The film consists mostly of conversations in and around a car, wherein landscape, silence and words weigh just as much as plot.
TASTE OF CHERRY show Abbas Kiarostami at his most radical and modest: cinema as a minimalistic philosophical space. Not a classic road movie full of action, but an existential trip in which encounters, reflection and landscapes are central. Winner of the Palm d’Or in Cannes and a key work in Iranian and world cinema because of its extreme simplicity and existential depth.
